Thank you for visiting our website.
Stonegate Farm’s therapeutic riding program has been developed to enhance the lives of children and adults with physical and cognitive disabilities by partnering with a very special group of horses and volunteers. Working in small groups, our riders enjoy interacting with humans and horses in a relaxed, supportive setting that helps develop physical, social and cognitive skills while having fun.
Providing both therapy and recreation, riding helps to improve balance and co-ordination, strength and muscle tone, and mobilizes joints. Cognitive and psychological benefits include improved sensory processing, focus and concentration, the ability to learn concepts, social and communication skills. Self-confidence and self-esteem develop from the sense of accomplishment and empowerment riding can provide.
Stonegate’s riders include children and adults with autism, cerebral palsy, stroke, arthritis, learning disabilities, developmental delay and similar physical and cognitive disabilities.
Please feel free to contact us if you would like additional information, or to arrange a tour of the facilities.
Stonegate Farm is a member of the Ontario Therapeutic Riding Association and the Canadian Therapeutic Riding Association.
Funding is available for some programs. Please visit the Catulpa Community Services website for more details. |
